Work Values Assessment: interpreting results and next steps

Start with the score scale

The result preserves the source instrument's score range and converts it to a progress display only for visual comparison. Read the raw score and interpretation together.

What different results mean

• Achievement：Using abilities and experiencing accomplishment.

• Independence：Making decisions, trying ideas, and organizing work independently.

• Recognition：Advancement, leadership opportunities, and recognition.

• Relationships：Friendly coworkers, ethical alignment, and helping others.

• Support：Fair treatment and supervisors who support and develop people.

• Working Conditions：Stability, safety, pay, variety, and activity level.

• All 20 cards must be distributed evenly across five importance levels, four per level. Forced sorting reveals trade-offs instead of allowing every desirable condition to be rated highest.

• Because the six values contain different item counts, O*NET Work Importance Locator conversion factors place each value on the same 6-to-30 range.

• Turn top values into employer-research and interview questions about autonomy, supervisor support, advancement criteria, or stability. The score is not an absolute rating of an employer or occupation.

Turn a result into action

Compare the result with two or three specific recent examples. Identify one low-risk experiment, information-gathering step, or support conversation. Retest only after enough time or a meaningful context change.

Misinterpretations to avoid

Do not treat one online self-report as a diagnosis, fixed identity, hiring decision, or proof of ability. Response context, translation, current stress, and self-awareness all affect results.
