How to use Batch Image OCR: practical workflow and checks

Use a real example to prepare input, run Batch Image OCR, verify output, understand privacy, and respect current boundaries.

When to use it

Recognize multiple images in file order, review each result, and download a combined TXT. Batch OCR is for a bounded set of scanned pages, not an unlimited queue. Processing is sequential and closing the page discards undownloaded results.

Practical example

For 12 scans named page-01 through page-12, confirm order first, sample the first and last lines of every page, then download combined text with filename separators.

Steps

  1. Choose a small group of images and inspect their order.
  2. Set the main language and remove blurry or irrelevant pages.
  3. Start and review per-file progress and errors.
  4. Sample every page and download combined text with filename separators.

Checks after completion

  • Organize several scanned pages at once
  • Independent result and error per image
  • Processing runs in this browser tab; the file is not uploaded to FreeTool to perform the task.

Do not rely on a success message alone. Sample counts, fields, dimensions, coordinates, text, or visual output against the source. Production, scientific, business, rights-sensitive, or formal deliverables require validation in the receiving system.

Current boundaries

  • Not a background job; refresh or close interrupts it
  • Browser memory and CPU make hundreds of pages unsuitable
  • Complex layout and table structure are not reconstructed

Privacy and safety

Local files are processed in the browser tab and are not uploaded to FreeTool to perform the task. IIIF/DZI URLs are requested directly by the browser and remain subject to source logs, CORS, and access policy. Clear downloads, screenshots, and clipboard data after a shared device.

Common questions

How many images can I process?

Follow the displayed total-size cap and test 5–20 images first on your device.

Why is the order wrong?

The selected list order is used; reorder it or use sortable filenames before starting.

Are images uploaded?

Processing runs in this browser tab; the file is not uploaded to FreeTool to perform the task.
